Intercamp Classic Supporters,
A few important messages to share with you today. As you can imagine, there are various details that go into planning the Intercamp Classic each year. One of those things is the event date. Although we wish we could choose the weather, it’s unfortunately something out of our control! Right now, multiple weather networks are calling for rain leading up to and on our planned date of Sunday, May 7th. They are calling for extremely cool weather (8 degrees) on May 7th as well.
Through much deliberation, we have made the tough decision to push the event back 15 days. This is due to a combination of weather, projected field conditions, and safety. In an effort to make event day as enjoyable of an experience as possible, it will now be taking place on the Monday of the Victoria Day long weekend, which is May 22nd. The timing will be from approximately 1:15 PM – 7:45 PM. We are fortunate to be able to keep the event at our incredible venue for this year: Esther Shiner Stadium and the connected North York Civic Fields.
In 8 years of running the Intercamp Classic, we are lucky to have this as only the 2nd time we’ve had to shift the event date. When it happened once before, we were able to make the move smoothly. After polling various people, we are confident that the move is going to be the best for the most people. We thank you in advance for helping us to facilitate a successful transition to the new date.
Here’s What You Need To Know:
-Other than the date itself, nothing with the event will be changing – same great food, music, inflatables, raffle, tournaments & more
-If you’re participating, hopefully you and your teammates will be able to attend on the new date. If for some reason 1 or 2 teammates can’t make it due to prior commitments, we’ll miss having them there. Ideally, the team captain will be able to replace such people with others. Perhaps these will be people who couldn’t make the initial date or other friends.
-The hours will be pushed back from what we had originally planned. The timing will be from approximately 1:15 PM – 7:45 PM. This is to accommodate people coming back from out of town and those who will be participating in the UJA Walk-A-Thon on the morning of the 22nd. As a gesture, we will be offering a bus shuttle directly from the Walk to the Intercamp Classic for specific individuals who this will be helpful for.
-We’ll be releasing the specific event games schedule for the new date closer to the event
-Fundraising will continue! Thanks to everyone for their support in this area.
If you have any questions, please email back and let us know (info@intercampclassic.com). Thanks so much in advance for your understanding of the situation and for your continued support!
Regards,
The Intercamp Classic Team
