The Idea
Some of Josh Howard and Noah Sliwin’s best camp memories involved intercamp sports competitions. In 2010, the two decided that a camp-themed, sports charity event would be a great way to give back to the community. Campers, staff, and alumni held their camps in high regard and felt a sense of loyalty to the places where they spent their summers growing up. It was believed that people would jump at the chance to proudly represent their current or former summer homes, which they cared so deeply about. Josh had several connections in the world of softball, having run a softball league while at university. Noah too had many teams ready to participate. After recruiting an incredible committee of captains and volunteers, the idea was ready to put into action.
The Intercamp Classic’s mission is simple:
Through an innovative and engaging program, the Intercamp Classic strives to bring together people with a passion for camp to help those in need
The Intercamp Classic is more than a series of sports tournaments: it is a multi-camp, multi-cabin reunion on the largest of scales. The purpose of the tournaments offered is to provide people with an exciting platform to band together and get involved. While the fundraising competition online is of paramount importance, we are thrilled that winning teams gain an amazing sense of pride and joy from victory on the field.
The goal of the Intercamp Classic is to bring together the community for a day of fun, camaraderie, and spirit! We look forward to welcoming back old teams with open arms and continuing to engage new camp people each year.
