<p>After 8 incredible years, the Intercamp Classic will be taking an &#8216;indefinite pause&#8217;. As you might imagine, a lot of thought and consideration has been placed into this decision. We know how many people still look forward to the event each year.</p>
<p>The Intercamp Classic journey is one that has impacted thousands of people. Beginning in 2010, campers, staff and alumni have come together each year to raise money and support those less fortunate. What started as a simple softball tournament grew into a multi-faceted event including handball, flag football, awesome food, inflatables, a raffle and other entertainment.<br />
The event could not have run as successfully for as long without the support of our unbelievable participants, committee members, volunteers, sponsors, camps, prize donors and suppliers. Kids in Camp charity has been an incredible partner of the Intercamp Classic. Providing kids in need with a camp experience is a worthy cause that the event is proud to have supported. Approximately $900,000 was grossed over the years with net proceeds supporting Kids in Camp (and Ve&#8217;ahavta in the early years). Hundreds of kids were able to enjoy a camp experience because of our collective efforts.</p>
<p>While the Intercamp Classic event could have continued on like the cycle of camp, we felt that the time for a pause had come. The core group of organizers that have been involved since the get-go have loved running the event each year but now want to be able to devote time to other passions and endeavours. Thankfully, the event will live on through an amazing number of pictures, videos, jerseys, stories, moments, and memories.</p>
<p>There are still ways to stay involved with Kids in Camp charity and support the cause of camp. In fact, Kids in Camp&#8217;s Spring KIC-OFF event will be happening on Wednesday, March 28th and feature Olympic and World Champion Adam van Koeverden. <p>As far as the Intercamp Classic, we are intentionally calling this an &#8216;indefinite pause&#8217; as we&#8217;re not quite ready to say goodbye to the event forever. We are simply saying goodbye for now.</p>
<p>Thank you for the part you have played in the story of the Intercamp Classic. Your participation, fundraising, commitment and dedication to the event is what allowed it to thrive for so long.</p>

<p>A few important messages to share with you today. As you can imagine, there are various details that go into planning the Intercamp Classic each year. One of those things is the event date. Although we wish we could choose the weather, it&#8217;s unfortunately something out of our control! Right now, multiple weather networks are calling for rain leading up to and on our planned date of Sunday, May 7th. They are calling for extremely cool weather (8 degrees) on May 7th as well.</p>
<p>Through much deliberation, we have made the tough decision to push the event back 15 days. This is due to a combination of weather, projected field conditions, and safety. In an effort to make event day as enjoyable of an experience as possible, it will <strong>now be taking place on the Monday of the Victoria Day long weekend, which is May 22nd. The timing will be from approximately 1:15 PM &#8211; 7:45 PM.</strong> We are fortunate to be able to keep the event at our incredible venue for this year: Esther Shiner Stadium and the connected North York Civic Fields.</p>
<p>In 8 years of running the Intercamp Classic, we are lucky to have this as only the 2nd time we&#8217;ve had to shift the event date. When it happened once before, we were able to make the move smoothly. After polling various people, we are confident that the move is going to be the best for the most people. We thank you in advance for helping us to facilitate a successful transition to the new date.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Here&#8217;s What You Need To Know:</span></strong></p>
<p>-Other than the date itself, nothing with the event will be changing &#8211; same great food, music, inflatables, raffle, tournaments &amp; more</p>
<p>-If you&#8217;re participating, hopefully you and your teammates will be able to attend on the new date. If for some reason 1 or 2 teammates can&#8217;t make it due to prior commitments, we&#8217;ll miss having them there. Ideally, the team captain will be able to replace such people with others. Perhaps these will be people who couldn&#8217;t make the initial date or other friends.</p>
<p>-The <strong>hours will be pushed back from what we had originally planned</strong>. The timing will be from approximately 1:15 PM &#8211; 7:45 PM. This is to accommodate people coming back from out of town and those who will be participating in the UJA Walk-A-Thon on the morning of the 22nd. As a gesture, we will be offering a bus shuttle directly from the Walk to the Intercamp Classic for specific individuals who this will be helpful for.</p>
<p>-We&#8217;ll be releasing the specific event games schedule for the new date closer to the event</p>

Like usual, the event will feature various sports to participate in. Information relating to the tournament format and divisions will be released soon. To <span class="m_-4851104644542635890gmail-il">keep</span> the event as fresh as ever, we&#8217;ve got some brand new tricks up our sleeve.</p>

<div>As always, we&#8217;re looking for people who would like to become more involved in the event. The ICC committee is the opportunity to give back to an awesome cause, meet and hang out with great peeps, pad the resume, and/or get some community service hours (for people who need those!)</div>

We&#8217;re excited to let you know that registration for the 7th Annual Intercamp Classic is officially open at our event website: <a href="http://www.intercampclassic.com">www.intercampclassic.com</a>. </p>
<p>DATE/LOCATION</p>
<p>A reminder that the Intercamp Classic supporting Kids in Camp charity will be happening on Victoria Day Monday, May 23rd, 2016. Save the date! The location will be the Powerade Centre just west of Toronto (7575 Kennedy Road South in Brampton). Like usual, the event will feature sports tournaments, food, entertainment &#038; more.</p>
<p>FORMAT</p>
<p>The following tournaments will be offered for 2016:</p>
<p>Softball &#8211; Male &#8211; University &#038; Alumni Ages<br />
Handball &#8211; Female &#8211; All Ages<br />
Flag Football &#8211; Male &#8211; High School &#038; University Ages</p>
<p>If you have questions about the suggested number of people per team or rules of a sport please be in touch.</p>
<p>FUNDRAISING</p>
<p>Like usual, the per person fundraising minimum to participate is $120. We also expect each team to hit a minimum of $1,200. That said, we were blown away last year by people going above and beyond these minimums. We will have great fundraising prizes up for grabs. After you register online, you&#8217;ll be able to send emails directly to family and friends asking for donations. There is a template donation letter that you can use and send out. It can be found in the 2016 event area of our website. Remember to personalize your letter for best results!</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 5<sup>th</sup> Annual Intercamp Classic supporting Kids in Camp charity will be happening on Victoria Day<b> MONDAY, MAY 19th, 2014</b>! Make sure to save the date!!! Registration is now open <a href="https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/startup.aspx?eventid=137413">HERE</a>.</p>
<p>Last year, approximately 1,000 individuals participated and there were close to 2,000 people from the community in attendance. For this coming year, campers, staff, and alumni will once again compete in a fun action-packed day. Everyone will be working together to support Kids in Camp charity in providing other less fortunate individuals with a camp experience.</p>
<p><b>NEW for 2014, we will be offering a</b> <b>co-ed ultimate frisbee tournament, </b>which will take place in addition to our very popular male softball, male flag football and female handball tournaments. Details on the specifics of each tournament will be released soon. We are also looking to engage even older alumni for the coming year so if you know people who might be interested, tell them to get in touch!</p>
